Ultra 150+ dies after 10sec WOT

My 2000 Ultra150 has developed an issue running at WOT
It gets there great, no issues, pulls hard and sounds good. But after 6-10sec it just dies, Engine just stops running.
If i wait 10 sec, press start, it cranks and start right up again and runs fine unitil I hold WOT, then it repeats.
Will run great alday, just not holding WOT
Its acting like it runs out of gas.

    So what i have done:
Cleaned all connections, new battery, power stays on when it dies. Lanyard fine, it restarts without touching it
Replaced spark plugs, and they look fine, nice brown color, no issues
Replaced Fuel pump and Fuel Filter
Replaced fuel pickup (for a stuck fuel gauge)
Compression good 140-145 on all 3
Tripple pisser kit, good flow on all 3
    Water strainer nice and clean
Inspected exhaust as well as i can with it in the ski, but no visible holes or cracks in the down hose. Can't see any exhaust leak.

Its acting line an exhaust leak, can the water box be pulled with engine in, just removing the exhaust pipe?

Any ideas where else to look?

Air inlet? Have you tried running it with the seat removed?

Thats my next thing to try, it has the 2002 air inlet modification, the one just infront of the dash.

It does seem to either beign smuthered or exhaust getting to it.

Update: This ski has the "skiworks" carb mod and that includes drilling 3 holes in the stock air box right above the carbs.
So, it was behaving like a fuel issue, so I pluged the holes and the ski runs perfect. Ran 3/4 tank through it and it never died once.
I suspect the modified air flow was messing up the vacumm signal to the carbs.
So, seems to be better, time will tell.

Ah the joys of a fun evening and no issues!!

The extra holes in the air box are required to run the ski with the Skiworks carb mod. Did you go back to factory carb settings, or are the modified carbs still running on the ski?

Carbs were not touched, just holes plugged and problem went away.

FYI...Wide open throttle and instant shut off is most commonly a piston seizure. I hope you checked your compression as it sounds like you might have had a piston scuff.

That's what I thought too, first thing I did was a compression test, no issues, plugs look fine and borescoped it and walls look good.

Since I blocked the skiworx Airbox mod ports, the ski has run flawless for 5 hrs, with lots of WOT. No loss in top speed or performance.

Seems like it was something with the carb vacuum metering. But its working fine now.
