Was there a change in the oil filter lid bolt in recent years?

This may be a dumb question, but was there a change in the oil filter lid bolt in recent years? I went to go remove my "ebay special" billet oil filter lid with "easy grab" top from my 08 GTX Limited and put it on my new-to-me 2012 RXT 260. The 2012 had a nut on the end of the bolt (bottom) and a sleeve inside the filter. Also, the filter looked like it had been crushed!? The guy I bought the ski from has a receipt where he had the oil/filter changed last October when it was winterized at 15 hours (this would have been the first oil change).

-Can I just put my aftermarket lid and filter in the 2012 without this sleeve/nut?
-Has anyone seen a filter that looked crushed like this? Perhaps they were just aggressive when installing the filter??

I don't think the new style lids have anything to do with crushing the filter. I have done 3 changes on my 2012 with the new style lid and the filter never came out like that.

I don't think it has anything to do with it either, but curious how it happened. Does yours have the nut and sleeve on the bolt? I just need to know if I can change it out.

we keep seeing these collapsed filters on this forum
1 thing seems to be common, use of heavy weight oil
    what oil were you using?

Not sure--just bought the ski used with 17 hours. I have a receipt from original owner showing the first oil change at 15 hours and they note 10w-40.

boostedgta, I saw your origional post with all that salt water corrosion all over your motor, and you said the ic and tb were rpelaced from leaking, Now I would say that filter is collapsed from water in oil

Yes, my 12 does. I was going to go to the new style on my 08 TX, but I sold it.

So, as a starting point I guess I should change the oil and filter (obviously) and take it out for a test run huh?
