    fuel pump conversion

Hi all, i've got a 04 msx140 here in the UK,parts are hard to come by here or very expensive.
I do have a 1200 genesis carb engine, and a wireing loom and electric box from a slxh1050,could these parts work to convert the msx into a carbed version? i know the matrix used the virage tx loom, but i don't have access to one of those.
how do you convert the msx fuel pump housing to run just from the fuel pump on the carbs?
    many thanks.

Are you sure you don't want to repair the fuel injection system and keep it running that way?

The Polaris Freedom model, for a specific time period, has the necessary adapter to use a carburetor type fuel pickup with the same fuel tank opening as the Ficht models have.

Hi K447,bought the msx as a basket case, two cylinders need replating, and msx spares are hard to come by,but carb skis are well supplied here,I've yet to try the fitch system, but was assured it was running ok before the strip down.
I thought the msx fuel pump/sender could be modified to run carbs.
    thanks for answering.

I suppose the Ficht fuel pump guts could be stripped out and somehow repurpose the shell for a suction fuel pickup.

Would need some figurin' to get the fuel pickup clunk in position inside the fuel intake filter base.

Its not that hard. The matrix pick up I have just had a barbed fitting threaded into the hole in the bottom of the plug with the fuel nipples in it.

Was the spring loaded pump body shell and pleated filter base retained?

How was the pickup done in the bottom? Loose clunk?

I used to offer fuel pick-up conversion plates for carbureted MSX-150's.

K447, can you tell me what year freedom offered the correct fuel pu assy?
Bryan, possibly you can post an image of the pu assy, as I might have some in the scrap pile.

    Thanks,
    Randy
