How do I tighten up the steering?

After some spirited figure 8's I notice the handlebars on my 99 fi Genisis have some play up and down. How do I tighten that up?

Is the slop in the actual pivot shaft for the handlebars?

There are bushings in there that can be replaced.

I think the handlebars are ok, the whole assembly can be moved up and down on both bikes, but more so on the Genisis. How do I get to the bushings and where would I get replacements?

Have a look at the online parts diagrams, then see the Parts Sources list for online Polaris OEM parts sellers.

Both can be found via my signature links.

The steering assembly unbolts to get to the actual bushings. A bit fiddly but not particularly difficult to work on.

I believe the 1999 Genesis has a non-bushing, non-rebuildable steering column and steering housing like the newer Virages.

I'm dealing with that now. Nothing to replace. Usually they wear together so that both have to be replaced.

Hmmm, for whatever reason I was thinking there was plastic bushings in there.

Looks like the same 5433136 steering housing was used on all Genesis and Virage models from 1999 through 2004

    Steering column is 5132317 (1999-2002?)

5133395 steering column for 2002?-2004, but 2004 also lists
    Item 17. 5433135 Bearing, Steering, quantity 4
This part number cross references to a bunch of years and models including the 2000 Pro 1200

Nope on the bushings. It sucks because I need to do the same thing. Now I will have to trust somebody on eBay to tell me that there is no play in the steering that I will wind up buying.
