    Keel Guard on 300x..

    Hello all,

I have a Keel Guard on my boat and the thing, while expensive, is great. Really protects the hull, especially the accidental small bumps. Anyway, on the boat and it's size I don't ever notice it's there. I was thinking about one for my 300x as I am already getting scratches down there but was concerned it would affect the properties of the ride due to it being smaller, and it's speed. So I am wondering if anyone has tried one here, or if anyone has any thoughts on them. Thank you..

Honestly, the better approach to this may be to be careful where you are beaching the Ski (I assume this is where you are getting the scratches).

I have never heard of someone doing this, but I know the item you are talking about. Although the Ultra is as stable and true as they come, you may effect the handling of the Ski by doing this. Or, you may also create some cavitation in the Pump by doing this.

My vote is no, but then again it may work. JB

I tried it on my 07. I pulled it right back off. It really altered the ski as JB mentioned.

I don't beach it at all, got one of those expensive aussie anchors and let it float a bit off the beach, works good. Was more for in case of that oh chit moment. lol. I do appreciate the advice, I will not bother buying one.

Same here. I never beach mine. A not so expensive anchor does the trick. Also help with resale value when the hull is scratch free.

I had a friend that was a paraplegic and would literally run his ski up on the ramp to get off. Drove me crazy but it was easy for him to get off that way. It looked like s#it from doing that!

Are there different designs and manufacturers of keel guards for watercraft?

Perhaps there is a version that would work better than others.
