    Lobster Mini Season in PWC

Being searching and could not find any experience catching bugs from a pwc. Mini season is around the corner and I am planning to take out the ski to get some lobster. Plan to do it with a friend with all the legal stuff like dive flag, licenses, etc.

Thinking about heading to the keys Islamorada fill ramp by Indian key to be more exact for those who know the area.

Any of you had experience doing this, any suggestions?

I've caught them from a boat, shouldn't be much different using a PWC.
We have also caught a lot of them in the Bahamas just snorkeling around the hotels and inlets. They are tasty with melted butter.

Yeah I have done it from a boat many times but always when catching them i think the PWC would be good for mobility as we many times anchor and end up moving for more.

Do you need to fly a red diver down flag when snorkeling?

Yes you need to use the same size flag you would use on a boat for your ski. I have dive flags made from 1/2 cpvc on all my skis. Are you doing this solo or with another person?

It's OK for light/occasional use, but you'll need something a bit more sturdy if you're going to use it more often. I like it because it takes up very little space when deflated.

That little flag is only legal if you tie the bouy to yourself and swim with it. Its not legal as a dive flag for your ski. Mini season down here is a shit show btw, you need all the visibility you can get. I dont even go on the water those two days and we close the rental down because there are way too many whack jobs out there. Good luck and stay safe

Yep, always way more vessels than lobsters in the water during mini season; plus lots of FWC officers around every corner waiting to jack you up with various fines, boat and cooler inspections, manatee zone violations, etc. We generally avoid this spectacle entirely and wait for things to settle down before going out for any bugs.
