    Virage Piston Problem

    This piston failed what is your recommendation top end rebuild the motor has a lot of hours on it. I have always ran Amsoil in the motors I have 2 Virages with the same problem the Tx its the middle cylinder the 700 twin its the mag cylinder.

    Total rebuild right down to the crankshaft. Too much foreign debris damage. I can see bearing parts still embedded in the top of your piston. Sorry to hear and see of your bad luck, but JUST a top end job isn't going to cut it this time.

    Bearing failure in the crankcase, engine rebuild necessary, especially since you say it has a lot of running hours.

    I am no longer a fan of the Amsoil 2-stroke oils.

    I now use the Legend ZX-R2 oil. Seem to be a better oil, in terms of both active lubrication and film longevity when the engine is not in use.

    The 700 twin has about 470 hours The TX I bought used I have put about 165 hours on that one it had 72 hours on when I got it.( We pretty much ride every weekend)

    240 hours on the Virage TX, not bad. Nearly 500 hours on the Virage two cylinder is pretty damn good.

    Considering you ride on salt water, obviously you are doing something right!

    Im kinda on the fence on getting two engines from SBT or just buying a new ski.
