    2008 Ultra 250X starting issue

    I'm new to the forum and just recently purchased an Ultra 250X with 45 hours.

    I have owned old school ski's in the past that have always been very reliable.
    I guess these new sophisticated ski's are a different animal..

    The ski is in like new condition and has run perfectly with no issues until last weekend.

    Filled up with gas and put in the water.. Full power key.. and nothing but spinning the motor over;

    not a bump, pop or anything. At first I thought no gas getting to the injectors. Put back on the trailer and tried to dry start it and see if it would idle for a few seconds, nothing.. (the starter just spins it over, the instrument cluster comes up as normal) Full tank of fresh gas.. Battery fully charged.

    Here is what I have checked so far.

    1.) Pulled the fuel line to check that fuel pump output is strong.
    2.) Pulled a couple of plugs to check spark --- strong spark at each plug
    Plugs are new with only 2 hours of run time
    3. Tried to see if I could get a bump out of it by fogging with some starting fluid in a couple of cyclinders.
    Nothing, not a bump.
    4. Checked that the fuel tank was vented properly.

    Does anyone have any idea what this is. I have heard that this ski has a switch that kills the ignition if the ski is tilted over or upside down.. could this be stuck?

    This ski is totally stock with zero modifications.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Just curious how long you tried to start it? Some of these Ultras have problem with balky start. It comes and goes. I think the exhaust filter was put on 300 to help prevent this very problem. Its why you want to blow as much water out of exhaust as possible after you turn off water. My recollection is its the bendix. It happened on my 260 between about 4 and 12 hours but then went away. It always started eventually, just sometimes it was 10 minutes+ and usually as I was about to float into harm's way! I never had to replace anything. Only thing that ever fixed itself on my ski. Still dont get how or why. I cant recall if others actually replaced bendix. You may want to search forum for specific thread on point or hopefully some others will chime in. Good luck!

    it was at Desert Aire.. a few hours south of Banks. But I will be at Banks in a few weeks

    Not starting

    Did you manage to get this ski started , got the same issue witha 250lx 09

    change the plugs !!!!!!!!!!

    dont care they work outside the engine, under cylinder compression they may not be working

    as you obviously have no spark if it wont run on start you barsted spray

    Waz is right, these plugs can look fine but spark like shit in the engine. Just swap them out.
