Kind of like the guy I watched launch his 22' Sea Doo boat the other day with 4 foot waves, and ended up beaching it and filling it with water, common sense gets you a long way in life. Why would you go out at 9:30PM??

what a bunch of idiots.... riding at night, by yourself.... atleast they told their friend what they were doing, that was about the only thing they did right. People like that should get fined and pennalized. Why should we the tax payers get to pay for their rescue when it was clearly their fault. I am not saying the ski failing was their fault, but the whole not having any form of signaling, atleast a whistle that is required and launching a watercraft with no lights at 9:30? really?

The first thing that came to my mind was a carbon seal too, and I am bashing Sea-doo even though I own one. That's why I had the engine alignment checked before I took delivery.
