    Seal intake pump shoe area

    Hi,

I have my spark tore down while I wait for the new SS wear ring and Impeller to arrive, my question is since I have access to the pump shoe area, would it be a good idea to seal it up with marine sealant, I see that there is an after market pump shoe that can be purchased that will close the gap up but I have already spent 700.00 for the dealer to replace the first wear ring and stock impeller, this time I am doing it and saving about 200.00. Will sealing up the shoe area help with any cavitation I may run into on the water? I will replace the stock grate at another time but that involves splitting the ski due to the nuts that torque to the bolts. Also is there a benefit to sealing up the ride plate while I am at it.

Well if you take into account the factory installed we and impeller, yes this will be the 3rd for both. The first time I was not paying attention and did not shut off the engine when I came into shore, the second time the lake sort of bottomed out and I did shut down but a rock got into the grate and I was not in a spot to where I could see anything. Both issues were self inflicted, I am not modding to wrench, I am tired of taking the chance, I will be more cautious from now on, the SS will at least not break as easily and also give a better HS.

On the sides of the intake grate there is a gap on each side, this I think can lead to proposing and they now sell a shoe that tightens that gap up, I do not want to replace any more parts so silicone should do the trick, if it does I will let the forum know.

I love the spark and yeah let's party lol
