Alignment of oil pump on Virage 800Di and 1200TXi
I replace the flywheel on a 02 Virage DI last night but I'm not 100% sure if I got the oil pump cap aligned. How do I make sure the oil pump mates up to the drive shaft oil pump cap? What is the trick and how do I know it is 100% aligned when done?

The plastic cap just fits over the flywheel nut on the end of the crankshaft.
The cap has a slot. The oil pump has a raised drive rib that fits into the slot.
Just rotate the oil pump drive by hand so it will align with and slot into the drive cap. Then hold it there while you get the first two small oil pump bolts snugged down.

Easier said than done when it is still in the ski. I need more arms! I tried to eyebal it and think I got it right. It seems I was able to move the pump up and down and feel it was in the grove cap but I'm not 100% sure. Is there any ease way to see if it pumping oil? I seems that if the motor does not crank then not much harm could take place by taking a line off?
