1200 SLX 2000 Carb kit replacement

    Hi all,

I have been on the forum for about 6 months or so - last time here, I was working on this pwc top-end. worked great for a bit, but, seems I should have done the carbs while everything was apart...

anyway - I have a three carb rebuild kit ready to go - I go under the cover to pull the throttle body off and the 6th bolt (6") pulls up under the lip of the seat - won't come out. Is there some secret to getting the throttle body of this beast or do I need to pull out the whole darn engine to do it?

Thanks - also, any tips/suggestions would be appreciated.

    Brgds,

    K

ok, Duh, it seems that I have to pull all three carb out at the same time after removing the choke/fuel cables, the in/out lines... so, I don't need to know how to get it out - but, if there is any suggestions/tips (I will review again later) - would be appreciated.

    Brgds,

    K

Just to make sure, put all new fuel lines on when you rebuild your carbs, unless it has them already.

I got it all back together and although it would start with some primer, it wouldn't stay running unless I continued to pump the gas.

I will remove again and replace all the hoses, argh! and start another thread when I'm done if there is still some problem.

    Thanks vm for your suggestion.

    Brgds,

You sure the idle speed screw doesnt need to be set. If it will stay running by giving it some throttle that may be all you need. Set the idle to around 3000 maybe a little less out of the water.
