Cost for a complete good RXP 215 engine ??

Looking at an '04 RXP with a locked up motor. Worst case scenario... what would I be looking at for a complete, good running engine?

If enough of it is salvageable I'll obviously rebuild it, but I'm wondering what I'd be looking at if it just needs replaced.

Also, this would be my first RXP. Is there anything else in particular I should look for on it? It doesn't seem like a bad deal at $1500, but a good deal can go bad quickly if a good motor will cost me $3500

If its locked its probably toast (not always though)......SBT reman is 2600 + 250 shipping + core damage charges (could be anywhere from 100 - 300 bucks).

If the block isn't busted and you know a machine shop that is willing to work on this block you can save a few bucks and rebuld it cheaper depending on what needs to be replaced.

you wont know until you at least pull the head off the engine and get some idea

a used motor will set you back around $2500. The problem with the sbt motor is they expect you to use your old oil pumps (there are two of them), depending on why the motor died that might not be a good idea. Did the motor ingest water? Expect to spend $2500 to $3500 to get it up and running again. The 215 motor is an expensive motor to replace.

Eh... might as well just buy one running. Thanks for the input!

does it come with a trailer? for 1500 I would buy it and pull the head and check it out first, if you decide it may cost to much you should be able to make your 1500 plus some on parting it out
