    Difference between 215 engine block and 255 engine block?

    I'm rebuilding an 04 rxp stage 3 and need a top case/cyl. I found a set of cases from a 255. Exactly what are the differences. Why can't I use them? I always thought the blocks were the same though something must be different. Different part numbers

    It is usable but there are some differences I believe but the internals should all fit .....somebody else on here should chime in and tell you sorry I can't tell you exactly what they are.......one of them I believe has to do with removing or adding an oil restrictor???? in the block???? It is kinda funny how little has changed in these motors over the last 12 years.

    What I know is the 06 up has a hole drilled in it behind the balance shaft gear for crank case ventilation which I don't think would be a problem for you, the oiling restrictor to the head is no longer there so youd have to put a restrictor in (if you can) or change to the 06 up rocker shaft. and they moved some threaded grounding holes around on the front of the motor which also shouldn't be a problem. if you were doing the opposite (buying an 05 down block for an 06 up ski) youd have to pull the restrictor out of the block and drill the hole to relive crank case pressure. also make sure that your flywheel cover and cps match your crankshaft, and that your stator matches your flywheel magnets
