fx sho 09 getting speedo sensor off ride plate

These screws are on this thing like no body's business. I tried using a 1/4 ratchet and a Phillips screw head but it wasn't budging. What can I do to get these damn things out?

+1 on those screws being a huge bitch to remove. I had to use a screw extractor to get mine out a few years back. Replaced them with stainless steel bolts for about $1. Well worth the upgrade.

+2. I had trouble with them immediately coming from the showroom floor to send Jim the plate. Lapping compound on screwdriver tip helps.

I'm going to try getting them out tonight if it doesn't rain. I'm going to try and heat the screws up because these stupid things wouldn't come out when taking off the ride plate when we were changing out the prop.

What a royal PITA. Do you think a lighter would heat it up enough to remove the screws or do you think I'll need some type of torch?

best 8 bucks i ever spent! The key is getting the torque pushing in while turning this is the only way! They come right out, doesnt take much!

+1 on the impact screwdriver, I have a similar one and use it all the time. Hit it with heat then use that and they will come out fine.

I swear to god nothing ever goes right.

So I was able to get the sensor screws out without much issue. However when I was screwing the ride plate bolts into the frame one of the screws broke off at the head. I honestly think this hole was stripped because of how hard it was to get the bolt in. I did get the new ride plate on.

    Now what do I do?

I might be able to grab the bolt but it was pretty far in. On top of that if the hole is stripped what do I do then?

I am going to just replace the bracket and get some new screws.

The bracket I found at boats.net part number (F1B-U8572-00-00) for less than $15.

You will strip the heads in no time. Ive had 3 skis, without exception I had problem undoing at least one bolt of the speedo bolt..Hated..After stripping the head, I had to cut the head, yank the whole thing...hate it

The put red locktite on those screws..
