Please don't become complacent with any situation.
I work on trucks for a living, not by my choice. We had a truck come in making a squealing sound. We all looked at it. Boss makes the call to replace the turbo. So I did. Afterwards I start it and it still makes the squeal. He steps up and starts looking around. Tells another mechanic to raise the idle and as he does the turbo spools up and sucks his hand into the turbo. Needless to say that a turbo spinning at 50k RPM makes ground meat of his thumb. Taking it off up to the start of the nail. Five hours later they return from the hospital.
Notice the bent blade from making contact with the bone.
Please be careful guys

Wow. That could have really been a whole lot worse.

as in 10 wheel tractor trucks, right? ...with monster turbos that can eat your whole hand?
...what was the squeal? your boss?

Detroit 60 in a Freightshaker.
Actually he just said "Time to go." He didn't look at it just wrapped it and had another guy drove him to the hospital.

After disassembling it to replace the turbo for a second time, I have found tiny bits of what was his thumb. I took pics... yuck!

That'll give him another reason to not come out his office.
