2004 Virage Knocking Voice Only At Idle..

This sound comes only at idle, when you give a little throttle everything is okey. Also acceleration and top speed is perfect.
I could not hear this knocking voice outside the sea on tralier!! The technican says maybe from the crank bearing or impeller shaft bearings?? I have checked the impeler turns fine.

Service also told this will not harm if its from the crank bearing makes only voice.
Any advice ? I do not want the open the engine up to crank

    Thanks for answers.

Check the drive shaft for play. It should not move much front to back (rubber bumpers on both ends of drive shaft) and side to side should be almost zero movement.

Also check the through-hull bearing. It should be snug on the drive shaft and not able to move sideways or wobble. And of course it should be greased.

The drive shaft does have some end to end play I think the spec is 1/8 inch.

    Dear Friends,
Thanks for the answers. I have checked the bumpers, they are fine. But I have cracked the strud shaft while disassembling I had a spare shaft also bearings and seals, tommarow I will assamble . The free play seems much.
I also dont have propeller locking tool, I will use the long shaft to lock well!
What do you prefer me to do minimize the end play?

Problem is solved The knocking voice is over now. I have changed the plastic seals, bearings also strud shaft. Now the free play is nearly a very little. Thanks for the help
