1996 Wave Venture 700 breaking muffler bolts...
I have a 1996 Yamaha Wave Venture 700, runs great, except it keeps breaking off the muffler bolts after about 30 minutes of run time.
Here are some pictures I took after I removed the muffler. It seems like the muffler needs to go about 3/8" of an inch to the right, but it will not budge. The bolts barely line up. You can see how it has completely rounded out the bolt hole in the aluminum. I have no history of this machine, so I'm not sure if they have the right muffler for this engine.. etc... ?
O.k... I got the exhaust all off the block... seems like the muffler has these little tabs that will not allow the gasket a good tight seal to the elbow. Maybe someone has the wrong muffler? Picture attached. I was wondering if I cut the tabs off that this would allow the 3/8" inch that I'm needing to slide over the exhaust.
