FZR 2009 - 185 hours clutch disassembly... PICS - must see
last winter I decided to pump up my FZR.
so first of all, I upgraded clutch to 2013, + riva dumpener + riva shaft gen III.
2009 clutch was perfect working but ski had 185 hours... and a lot of wave rider.
today, only for curiosity I disassembled my old clutch...
see the photos....
this is the condition of sprag clutch inside the 2009 clutch assembly.... and the funniest things... it was still perfect working ...
no power loss...

so this is similar to Sea doo SC gear failure but it`s better as you did not feel anything and it did not go into the engine. Does it have a stop so those parts don't enter the engine or how does it work ?

How is that even possible that you were still at full performance with a clutch like that?

how's this even possible so much damage and the inner /outer race where it rides has none?

Mine was the same way, looks like heavy wear on the sprags and none on the races. I think it is because the races have a ton of surface area, and the sprags just have that little rounded end that contacts the races. Could also be the sprags are softer, or not heat treated as much. The snap rings are what hold all the parts inside even though the retainer cage is broken.

Gotta be engine out and sump off now ?
dread the thought of that grinding paste in the sump hurting the engine
