    Flywheel bolt shear question

Hey guys i'm trying to learn all I can about the flywheel bolt failure that happens turning high RPM's. I've searched around the forum, pm'ed some guys and just want to gather as much info as possible. I know the engine needs rebuild if they shear, so I want to do mine before I go boom. I heard it's a 6 hour job if you know what your doing but was wondering what other safeguard mods could be done while the motor is out? All advice and info is appreciated.. And don't say TERBO!

your ski has the best bolts brp has ever used
    they are good bolts
    you should be fine
older skis had junk SS bolts
around 07 or 08 they changed to the good bolts

If your going to leave your ski stock or just do light mods then your fine. If you plan to rev over 8600 then even the new bolts fail. Ive seen plenty of failures. You need to either use a arp bolt or a 12.9 strength bolt. If your bolts fail you will not need engine rebuild but it does make a nice mess in the pto

I have the new upgraded bolts and the top of each bolt is stamped 12.9 so i will assume this is an upgraded bolt from stock...i am told the torque spec was changed with the new bolts...11 ft/lbs then 50 degrees (whatever the hell that is)....i have broke 4 rxpx's flywheel bolts sheared...just did the 4th this weekend...the upgraded kit is still alive on a 2008 with over 130 hard hours....just fyi...as well here are part numbers for arp and brp

So far these are my bolt options:
    - BRP updated bolts 295 501 043
    - ARP 134-1002
    - ARP 661-1001

Btw...in every case the engine needs complete tear down and cleaning...will need a new stator, trigger wheel and in most cases the cup...and bolts of course...makes a hell of a mess

This isn't all together true, myself and GLADERIDER and many other 260's have sheared the bolts the same way.....high rpms, 8800 and beyond.

hopefully the other guys will chime in soon.....

    ^^^^^^^

This guy installed my bolts and tuned my ski, for anyone within reach that needs a performance tech, this guy is the best kept secret. PM him. He told me my bolts were gonna break, I didn't change them quick enough and boom.
