cavitation issues after r&d intake grate

anyone else have this issue? i installed and it cavitates bad off the line. i thought my mods might have too much low end and was spinning stock prop.
i bought a skat prop and installed and it was same if not worse. i noticed the top loader instructions sho a wedge piece to fill a cavity in intake grate. i called r&d and they said it was optional. maybe its actually mandatory??

    mods:
    skat prop
    r&d intake grate
    r&d air intake
    Worx rear exit exhaust
    riva waterbox
    worx sponsons
    Vtech 402 tune
max rpm is 8200 and 50mph

with just tune i was at 8100 and 52mph

I run neaarly all the same mods as you (plus seal kit) and am having horrible cavatiation off the line as well, i get the feeling like you said spinning the prop to fast, i feel as though maybe a prop with the right pitch would solve this issue. i maxxed out at 86 kmhr...stock i ran 85...

there are new skat impeller on the way that will fix the cavitation and get more top speed. call glen at skat in late October when racing season is over. I have been very impressed with this last round of testing.I can tell you that the new skat set up is much better than the solas

I reckon its the fitment and the lip on the lower portion of the tunnel to wear ring connection.

Mine was out by 5mm... Enough to boil water under vacuum for sure.

    Ended up maching it 5mm.

I put the R&D grate on with the stuffer seal kit and a Solas prop and had no cavitation at all.
When I spoke to R&D and ordered my grate they "recommended" that the stuffer seal kit be used with the grate.

mhmm this is has got me thinking that the lack of a properly pitched prop is the issue, might have to ditch the skat for a solas!

Off topic. anyone try a different ride plate yet, i was thinking about getting one but with the season gone..at least for me i think i might get one for next year.
