Newbie needs help! 1996 Polaris SLT
First off, where do I find the information that will tell me what model I have? (Yes, I am a dumb blonde)!
Second, jet ski was emptied of gas in order to ship to Hawaii, sat for a year, and we recently got it up and running. Rode it for ten minutes, great speed, everything was fine, until I pushed the stop button. Now the darn thing won't start up. Has a brand new battery and fresh gas in it, any ideas? I need to get this thing up and running so that I can sell it. Husband was injured in Iraq and can't ride it anymore. Please helppppppp!!!!! Please email responses to firstname.lastname@example.org

IF it is indeed a 96 (lat 2 digits of the VIN number) check the color of the engine.
If it's blue it's an SLT780 and has a Fuji engine.
If it's red, it's an SLTX or a Domestic 1050 engine.
Check ground to engine block (remove and clean).
Check connections at battery (remove and clean).
Hell check every electrical connection you can find, one's probably loose.
I forgot to say WELCOME to the green Hulk forums.
Sorry about the injury to your hubby, they go WAYYYY over and above the call of duty!!!

You should also check out the stop switch and lanyard assembly.

Good point, is the lanyard even attached?

Welcome to the HULK!!!! I would look at the lynard switch. I would also take a good look at the Fuel selector switch. You really need to figure out if you have fuel and spark.

96 Polaris SLT 780 Newbie - thanks guys
Thanks guys for the information about the model. The engine is blue, so that makes it a slt 780. Can anyone tell me an easy way to change out the stop switch. The engine makes a clicking noise whether the laynard is in or out. Is this of any signifigance? Also, when the movers unloaded the jetski out of the box they broke off the gate (black plastic thing) for putting the machine into reverse, so I need to replace it. Any ideas where I can get the part? Thanks so much for this great forum. Cheri

First, check and charge the battery it may just be weak or bad.
The reverse bucket can be found on e-bay, John Zigler, or new through any dealer. I like to use Atlantic Powersporst as we get a Green Hulk discount through Jay or Tony.
Atlantic Power Sports 10% off all OEM Parts, free UPS ground shipping on orders over 125.00. Ask for Jay(Service) Tony(Parts)
