    Best older 2 strokes

Hey guys, I have a limited budget of 5kaud, and am fairly mechanically minded, but in saying that, would rather spend more time in the water than the shop haha.
So I was wondering whats the best ski to look out for?

    So far I've found:
    (These prices are for Australia)
    1997 Seadoo GSX 800 carby 90hours 3k
    1999 Seadoo GSX 947 carby 225hrs but engine rebuild 20hrs ago - 4k
    2002 Seadoo GTX DI 150hrs 4k

I haven't found any yammies under my budget that look worth it. What's some similar skis I should look out for?

Also what should i be looking for in the above skis if I were to inspect?
I know these options are all 2T but my budget pretty much restricts it to these.

    Thanks in advance

even at 150hrs, if well maintained and not rode hard and put up wet, i'd go for that. that is my personal opinion. check for any damage to hull, climb under it and look around, request a test ride. I'm sure others will chime in too.

Personally I would run away from the DI. Difficult to find any one that knows how to fix. When they run, they run great. When the dont run, it can be a bit challengine to trouble shoot. Good fuel economy though and it is a larger hull and will be more stable in ocean waters. The 99 GSX with the 951 is fast machine. If it's been rebuilt along with the carbs and pump, I wouldn't stray away from it. It's a bit cramp in the hull to work on it. I think a bit pricy for US standards though. The 97 GSX however should have the 787 engine, which is a well designed engine and very durable. I personally would go that route. Plenty of parts around and anyone can turn a wrench on it. CHeck compression on the cylinders would be the main focus and a ride on the water.

    My choice also.

Thanks heaps, yeah definitely getting a test in the river before purchase.
If not thrashed, how many hours should I get before it being absolutely necessary for me to rebuild it?
Also if running well on low compression, can it still be used like normal?

2002 Seadoo xp limited are nice too, unless you are looking for a large ski.

Stay away from the fuel injected models. Carburator ones are easy to figure out what is wrong with them. Way less expensive to fix.

Oh right, so you'd take a 97 GTX over an 01 rfi?
