    1979 JS440 might be buying..had a question

was wondering if this is something I should stay away from or not. It has been sitting for 7 years, my goal it to get it running and learn how to ride a stand up.

The guy says they ran fine 7 years ago. He has two of them for $900 or one for $500. My concerns are part availability or some other unforeseen issues...I am not concerned with cleaning fuel/new battery/carb cleaning etc.
    thanks

I would keep looking. You could do better than a '79 that sat for 7 years for $500. If anything, bring a battery, check for compression and spark. If it has good compression and spark offer $300. That's an old ski and things go bad the longer something sits. Don't spend any more than you are willing to throw away to make it run. That being said they are fun to play with. I really miss my stand ups.
