Action camera? Which to choose
I'm in between the go pro silver or the ion pro 3? Drift S is also on my list buy ion seems to be a solid winner. Anyone have input? Gopro is overpriced for the quality that these other two provide.

you are not even comparing apples to apples with the go pro silver vs the ion pro 3.
you need to compare the go pro 3+ black to the ion pro 3.
lets look at video modes only. the GP3+B has 11 different modes to shoot in ranging from WVGA to 4k.
the IP3 has 3..
- Video Resolutions: FHD 1080p: 1920 x 1080 (16:9), 30fps/60fps. HD 720p: 1280 x 720 (16:9), 30fps/60fps/ 120fps

GoPro hands down. Great cameras that can be mounted anywhere. Their customer service is incredible... honored my Hero2 that was 2 years out of warranty.

I refuse to spend $500 + on a camera and accessories so GoPro Hero 3+ Black is out of the question. I settled for the Sony AS100v. Price very reasonably @ $269.00 and seems to outperform GoPro in certain areas.

what areas does it out perform a gopro? keep in mind all these other brands sony, ion, garmin are all trying to copy what the gopro does.
are you looking at how you will use it or just looking at the cost? there are cheaper gopros than the hero 3+ black. you will have WAY more mounting options with the gopro than any other "action cam"

better audio plus image stabilization is a big plus on the sony along with better low light. I've seen compares against the hero 3+ black and sony seems to continuously outperform in most categories. I have never owned any action camera. As far as how I will use it, the mounts for the sony are perfectly acceptable

well good luck with it. let us know how it does.
in the world of watercraft the audio means very little since all you would hear is wind and engine noise. as for low light unless you want to film POV porn with it not that big a deal either. depending on your ski and how you mount it the video can be shaky but nothing over the top.
anyway get to filming and put up some vids.

nvm, apparently they pop out of their mounts. Not up for constantly trying to remount

I've had this one for a few years now and still holds strong. No Wifi but comes with all the bells and whistles, piggy back LCD display, remote, lots of mount options that would cost another 300.00 for a gopro to add on.
Here's a clip from it. It was mounted on my handle bars of my GSX so it's jumpy. 720 @ 60fps. Goes to 1080p @ 30fps
Be sure to enable HD
