What is the difference between the MFD that has the wide gas and oil gauge bars compared to the more common one with the slimer gas and oil bars.

it depends what year the MFD came from. Some of those MFD (possibly all with the wide graphics style bars up the side arcing into the top area) are a 12 Pin MFD vs. an 8 Pin for the others.

Not a hard change, you can replace the wire harness Deutsch connector for an 8 pin or a 12, whatever application you are trying to obtain.

The largest difference in MFDs is the trim position indication. on some skis, they were outfitted with a "Fast Trim" motor, that actually moves at 6 RPM compaired to the "Slow Trim motor" that moves at 3 RPM.

I have a 1999 SLX MFD, that is a 12 pin and has the thicker gauge bars that go up the sides onto the top of the MFD, and it is equiped with Fast trim. I can not say for all of those style MFDs though.

Just to make it more clear. These are the two displays I am talking about. So your saying all that is different is the number of pins on the back of the display? One of my 2000 SLX's has the MFD on the left the other has the same MFD as the 95 sl750 on the right (only put my old 750 pic because I don't have one handy of the other 2000 SLX MFD.

No, i am not saying that, I believe your 2000 SLX has a Fast Trim motor, where the other MFD does not. ....also cut that display open and get those connections more clear! :P
