    oil pump question

i took my carbs off my pro 1200 last summer, put them back on a few nights ago,

should there be tension on the oil pump if the engine isnt running??

if i pull the throttle and release it the throttle returns but the oil pump cable doesnt ???

is this right??? i havent touched the oil pump but kinda considered

Is the oil pump arm on the correct side?

When properly installed the oil pump cable pulls the oil pump arm upwards on the left side of the oil pump.

When the oil pump cable is disconnected it is easy for the pump arm to swing down very low and then the oil cable can be reconnected with the pump arm rotated to the right hand side. This is not correct.

Left and right is always from the perspective of sitting on the seat, ready to ride.

    Same as for cars

yes ,you probably need to to wind it around once it spun all the way around when you disconnected the cable
