    what special tools from Yamaha are needed to tear down crankcase

    What special tools from Yamaha are needed to tear down crankcase? Want to do rods and pistons and super single springs

    YOU NEED the tool to get the coupler off its extremely tight and a 12mm hexagon bit socket 150mm long to go inside the crank to lever against, use some heat also to loosen the loctite, apart from that its just sockets. i made my own tool.

    the coupler can be removed without the tool, but its a pain in the nuts, make sure to heat the coupler to break the Loctite loose. it is right hand threaded, but the little bolt in the center is left hand threaded, replace the seal after heating the coupler, not worth cheaping out and taking a chance of that rear seal leaking

    We end up cutting the coupling off it was just insanly tight! even with a 5ft bar and a blow torch.
    apart from that everything else is straight forward.

    Be worth doing the head stud kit at the same time.
