    SVHO Mods and Warranty

Can anyone offer advice and/or experience on what mods you can do/get done before it's affects your Yamaha Warranty.
Only have 10 hrs on my great FX SVHO machine but would like to do ribbon delete and pod filter intake upgrade both by Riva.
Parts are currently on their way to me in OZ

All depends on dealer, if you let them do your service(Oil changes etc) and you keep your receipts of service done, I be shocked if not... But Then again there's always one

It depends.. my dealer said they are mod friendly as long as I don't do any internal work.

Not at all, 1st they'd have to prove that your modification caused the issue you might have and then they could void it for that issue only. The only thing the ribbon is there for is as a coast guard mandated flame arrestor, it's not a critical engine component.

Yamaha sells the ribbon delete in their accessory catalog so I'm sure they have approved it.

I thought if you do any MODS to the motor it would void the warranty ......

Again they'd have to prove the mod caused the issue but also the ribbon isn't an engine component. If you flash your ECU and then blow your engine you'd have a hard time getting warranty coverage as fueling/timing/rpm limit would be changed from stock so they'd have a good argument that the changes caused the engine failure but if say your SC clutch goes your likely to get it replaced as that's not directly related to the ECU change plus it's a known issue. Apply similar logic to any other changes.

You can also look in the Yamaha accessories catalog. If the product is sold there, then you're probably safe on warranty coverage if you have it in your ski, ie. any of the Riva stage 1 or equivalent from R&D.
