    Pump Sealing - Help Dissasembling

    Hi

I own 2 XL 1200 ltds and both are cavitating. The clearance between the impeller and the housing looks good so I decided to seal the pumps after reading many posts.
Today I started taking the pump apart but got to a point were I'm not sure how to proceed so I'm asking for advice before I end breaking something.
This is how far I got:

These two housing parts won't come off, there is some type of sealant in between them, not sure if this sealant is OEM or if the previous owner already did something to it. On these pictures you can see a fine line of sealant between the parts.

What am I missing? The intake duct has not been removed yet. I already used a mallet and tried to stick a screwdriver where the seal is.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

there are 2 tabs on each side... put a large screwdriver between the tabs and start prying gently but firmly... you dont want to break those tabs off or you are screwed

the tabs are in the second pic you posted

    That worked, thanks WFO.
Now, the back plate has to come off too to seal behind it, right? I'm a little concerned about leaks when re-installing.

Any comments on the condition of this impeller? There are some rough spots on the impeller and some minimal wear on the shaft.

no real reason to remove the transom plate unless its not up against the tabs or leaking.

just remove the grate and pump shoe, and seal the back of the shoe to transom real good.

that impeller has bad cavitation marks (circled in red)
