If a rental ski(yamaha) is put into 'permanent' learner mode; how do you get it out(back to normal operating mode)?
...guessing its a VX, not sure of year.

Permanent learning mode? I don't know if that is a thing. I know Riva sells a restrictor for VX skis that doesnt like the throttle pull past 3/4... is that what you are referring to? If that is the case, then you'll need to remove it and should be good to go.
As far as I know there isn't a permanent learner mode via the remote/ ECU. To unlock the ski and take it out of learner mode, hold down on the 'unlock' button on the remote for 5 seconds until the ski beeps. Hope that helps.

The new ones come with a transmitter remote......for high RPM or low RPM

this is far from new, no transmitter. its one of the lanyard clip style skis. I am enquiring for the company I work for; as the mechanic that did this is no longer with them, and no one knows how to get it back to 'normal' operating mode, if need be.
it only revs to about 5500-6000rpm and tops out at about 35/40 mph - f'n boring when i take it out of the marina for test rides after repairs.
