    2008 RXP-X 71.5 mph. Is this right?

I have an rxpx with a wedge kit, 4 inch air intake, tdr box with riva thru hull pipe, filled ride plates holes, opas block off, aftermarket nose cone.

I ran it with 3 bars of high octane, flat water, 80 degrees rpms hit 8200. I set the trim at 4 up from the bottom. The best I could get was 71.5. Does this seem right? If not, what can I do? If so, what would be the next thing to purchase to get more mph on the top end? I want to do all I can without cracking into the motor. So grate? impeller? nozzle?

What would be your next step?

If the intake grate is stock, swap it out...you'll gain 2-3mph easy...

8200 is too high, you need to adjust the prop...or swap it out.

Also, remove the Flame Arrestor in the intake manifold...

You need a prop. At 8200 your all over the rev limiter. Add a Solas 15/22r prop with a 83mm nozzle. Also either add a R&D or Riva intake grate. This will probably bump you around 75 mph in the summer heat.

There is a kit that jerry sells to remove it. Also it can be broken down and pulled out the throttle body hole but its not real easy.

YUDluz2 is right, I have a 2011 Rxp-x this is what I have on complete stock motor and Ecu. R&D Aquavein intake crate,solas15/22r,Riva power filter 3 inch kit, Riva free flow exhaust kit, Riva racing nozzle using a 83mm ring, Riva 2 degree wedge with Riva extension rod, VTS set at 2 notches down from very top, Riva upper manifold block off kit removes filter element inside and add. extra 1lbs of boost, R&D hose and blow off valve kit gen2 aluminum.I get in salt water key largo lite chops 75 mph at 7890 rpms safe and please note when above 90 degrees water temperature rpms drop 250.Imposter said changing intercooler will help regain rpms on hotter water temperatures it makes sense.

Good info here. But don't run a RIVA grate for two reasons, 1. they stuff earlier than a R&D, 2. they break. Don't run a RIVA 3" air intake s/u get a 4" air intake system. Flows way more= more hp. Change thermostat to a 160* helps. Pitch prop to 8100 rpms and heat soak isn't so bad. These last to things help keep performance high during high air temps.
