Leftover part after 4tec rebuild. Please help me figure out where it goes...

I've gone through every diagram in the manual and can't seem to find where this rubber washer goes

I rebuilt the S/C as well with an oem kit, so it may have come out of there, but I can't recall. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like the chain tensioner or crank locking hole plug washer

Is it definately rubber? Can you fold it in half?

Only areas i can think of with a rubber washers are the valve cover and throttle body bolts.

Definitely rubber, you can fold it in half. I checked the chain tensioner, no place for this guy there, and the diagram only features the big aluminum seal washer. The valve cover had those bolts with thick black rubber grommets under the head, and they were all accounted for. Not sure about throttle body, but doubt it as I took that off long before I messed with the rebuild. I'll check the diagram for that again just in case.

if it is rubber then it won't be the two places I mentioned for sure. It looked like metal to me, I didn't see where you mention the rubber.

This engine will be sitting on the shelf for some time, so if anyone identifies this, please let me know before I put it in the boat.

I can't think of any place that would go

Everything used on these engines that looks like that is metal.
