01 Virage- plenty of battery, turns over well, but NO start. Ideas?

Used it 3-4 times this summer and today when trying to unload at the lake it just would never start. Tried till the battery started to go. Charged it for a few minutes and it turned over great for several minutes, but just will not start.

What should I be checking first?

    Fuel injected or carburetor engine?

    Two or three cylinder?

    Does it have spark?

Hold down Bilge button. Lanyard in place, press Start. Does it now have spark?

Sorry, it's a fuel injected model. I will have to get to where they are stored tomorrow and try holding down the bilge button. It's as if the clip is not on the kill button...or at least seems that way.

Bilge button method does not apply to fuel injected engines

There are a couple of diagnostics to try. First is to disconnect and bypass the LR-503 Start/Stop module. I have posted the details elsewhere. Search for my posts with LR-503 in the post title.

Next test is to unplug the TPS sensor. It has a 3-pin connector and is located under the rear lip of the flame arrestor. See if engine will start and idle with TPS unplugged.

If bypassing the LR-503 module makes no improvement then the primary suspect becomes the main engine control module, called the EMM.

It's a 3 cylinder FI boat. I put the lanyard on, pushed down the bilge button and on the first try it acted like it was going to start but didn't. Then on the following tries it never acted like it was close. Turns over well, but doesn't hiccup or burp or even come close, just not starting. Now what?

Ok, next week I'll do some testing. Thanks!
