chips out of 2 stator blades...

...........I knew I had 2 slightly bent blades on the impellor of my '02 Virage 700 so I purchased a new impellor. Today When I pulled pump apart to do a yearly sand blast, Zinc cromate, and repaint (see picture) I see that the stator is chipped on 2 blades. In the shape it is it still does 46-48mph gps but there is noticable cavitation out of the hole. Since this is just going to be my kids toy I am wondering how much efficency is lost with chips in the stator? Isn't it more important that the impellor is perfect vs. stator being perfect? I see there is a few stators for sale in lthe classifieds but they seem a little overpriced. Will any 5 vain stator work?

Aluminum stators are pretty much "consumables". Replace as needed...or find one hell of a welder!

All of the 5 vein stators are the same unless of course you purchase something "one off".
Something went through that bad boy.

Trust me alot of stuff has gone thru this thing. Can't count the times I've had it flipped over on a beach somewhere with my "special 2' long aluminum dowel junk remover and flashlight". I have sucked 3 catfish into my Berkley jet on a previous boat. At least Berkely jets have a cleanout hole. And, a 8" catfish can survive 2 min. at 1500rpm and swim away although beat up and very dizzy. For some reason they don't go thru the impellor or really get cut up by it.........they just cause so much cavitation that you can't go over 5mph. I had a "open" top loader intake grate that they would swim thru while docked overnight in case you were wondering how they got past it to the impellor. Should have named it "Catfisher" instead of "Another Dog
