    is this too slow..??

    hey guys..

new here but been reading threads for quite a while...

    ok looking for ideas/feedback..!!

currently running a GP1200R with factory pipes, advent, 150psi heads etc,

or basically all or most of whats discussed here..!! http://greenhulk.net/forums/attachme...9&d=1175276575
with the exception of the prop i'm on a 13/19.. not sure which type., can confirm later..

was out with some friends for a blast today..

gotta say i'm not vey impressed with the numbers i was achieving..
i.e. 59.7 gps FULL tank of gas..!!
66.3 GPS 1/3-1/4 tank of gas..??
certainly NOT the 75mph claimed above..!!

the 66.3 was achieved with ONE sponson..!! i managed to relieve myself of one riva "BULLET-PROOF" sponson..??
i was heading in to beach the ski and ran over a LARGE rock below the surface, heard a bang thought.. "[email protected]?%&" (use your own choice phrase)
had a look underneath saw no damage at all..?? thought finally some good luck..! let my friends 16 yr old go for a blast.. i get back on 15mins later and think this ain't right.. first thought a hull full of water.. nope bone dry..!! second thought was sponson.. yup..!!
the outcome was the front two bolts sheared when i ran over the rock,
so the rear one was holding the sponson in place after the big rock check.. all that was left when i checked it 20mins later was the rear mounting plug thing and a backing plate..
whats my chances of a warranty on this "BULLET PROOF" item then..???
    yeah thats what i thought..???

anyway guys looking for ideas on where my missing zoom-zoom is..??
i will say the ski certainly feels like the ponys are all there..

    thanks gerry

I think you might be a little under propped.

I'd suggest you start with checking the compression with the power valves closed and then also with the power valves open (disconnect the servo electrical cable and manually rotate them) - post the results

and yes you also need an accurate RPM

do a plug chop at WOT (kill the motor at WOT and then swap out the plugs on the water) - post up the pictures here on the forum

13/19 is probably the correct impeller

you want the pump shoe to be mounted so that it is .050 to .070 inches higher than the bottom of the hull - you check this using a metal straight edge and a set of calipers (or use a nickel, it just happens to be .070 in)

you want the front of the rideplate to be almost flush with the pump shoe - make sure the rideplate is not hanging below the pump shoe or that it is not too high in the hull

The tach is going to be the tell tale for us to help you diagnose your ski. To be honest with you, properly set up your boat should be flirting with 80. We are going to need more info to help. Do some searches on "pump shoe" and let us know what you find on your ski.

Those speeds are too far apart just for 2/3 or 3/4 tank of fuel missing. I think you might find that your trim is pushing the nose of the ski down. Check your trim adjustment and get the nose up. If it feels loose the adjustment is in the nose of the ski. Also check the angle of your ride plate. Make sure the shoe is not hanging below the hull.

I would check those things before I get into the engine. If its really turning 7700 rpms there isnt alot going wrong under the seat (it might not be perfect) but probably nothing major.

If its turning those rpms with the right pitch prop there has to be something external holding you back.
