Best place on Long Island for tubing/wakeboarding?
Where do you guys prefer to go for this? I guess I'm looking for the calmest water/least traffic.

You gotta look for a light north/west wind. Tide dependent there are some nice wide channels near the marsh flats. Most of the time I see guys tubing and wake boarding right in the bay though.

yeah basically what mike said.. if its a choppy day out and your towing with a ski (obviously) I would stick to hugging the north side of the barrier islands.. for some reason its always calm as hell down there.. for me, its choppy from the second I leave venetian (south shore of long island) until about 3/4 of the way south to the barrier island.
or unless your towing in the marsh then its always calm.. much calmer then the middle of the bay..

Imagine whipping thru the marsh trails on a tube idk if that would be fun or scary as fuck!

Chris you got a tube yet? Wake boardings only fun if you actually know how to do it other wise it's just a whole lot of falling lol. Tube on the other hand is hold on for dear life and go!!! I've been wanting to pick up an airhead tube for the last 2 summers and never did.

Dicks put some of their water gear on sale today. 50% off. I've been looking into a solo airhead.
but I like this one better, just not on sale. http://m.dickssportinggoods.com/prod...uctId=18975476
The south shore has it's flat days but it's rare. Pretty busy too.
Theres def some bay channels that are always pretty good though.
Dog Leg is good, long and wide.

There is a large cove between Amityville and Massapequa right by the Amityville cut. There is a red and white lighthouse in someone's back yard to use as a land mark. I used to tube there all the time. No boats go through there but usually has crab pots set up on the Massapequa side.

Out in Suffolk there are several calm areas on peconic and on the north shore, oyster bay sound near cold spring harbor is good
