Question about R&D ECU Reprogramming Service

Has anyone out there had their ECU reprogrammed for a 2012 Kawasaki Ultra 300 by R&D? I need to know if this reprogramming will increase the fuel flow to the cylinders to help prevent lean engine failure like what happened to mine....hole in the piston.

I also need to know if larger fuel injectors and/or a bigger/more powerful fuel pump are required when getting the ECU re-flashed?

No changes to injectors and pump.
Their 300 tunes are for all 300s. Just decide which level of tune you are wanting.
    Just curious, which piston failed?

your failure is NOT the OEMs tune file issue
You dont need to change the tune or injectors on a STOCK 300 !!!!!!!!!!!!

please tell us the FULL story

The full story is that my engine blew a hole in the top of piston #4 while running down the lake. I was using regular gas at the time instead of premium as specified in the owners manual. The mechanics where I work (Crowe Marine) told me that the engine detonated and burned a hole in the piston as as result of running too lean. They said that regular gas was the possible cause. I also spoke to Glen from R&D in California and he told me that I do not need to buy the ECU re-flash or the Power shot fuel controller and that running premium is all that is required to prevent this problem from recurring. That's the story.

Your ski didn't run lean from a improper air fuel mixture ,that piston detonated from a high heat high compression engine that needs At LEAST 91oct. for a cooler combustion burn ESPECIALLY running a override module putting at near 8000 rpms...

So you have just answered your own question...

no amount of programming or easy modification will fix or prevent

    incorrect octane..

if u can only buy or only afford low grade fuel. Then u cant own an ultra or any other ski that
    requires 91+ octane.
