Who wants to help me solve P0520 Code? Help Please

Changed power from a blown (bad valve) 04 RXP to low hour 06. Prior to blowing the '04 engine i was operating with a modified '08 wiring harness/system. After 06 install i chose to keep the modified 08 harness because i've got FPR tapped into fuel rail.

I noticed when connecting wiring harness that CAPS sensor connection was different style than the connector i have on '08 harness (i'm guessing that the CAPS sensors are different between 06 and 04 models). So to adjust i just replaced the CAPS connector (attached to the harness) with the connector i had from the original 06 harness.

put key in, fuel pump engages, dash throws P0520 code. i hit the starter to see what would happen and the engine turns over and runs a second then kills. Now if i hit the starter again, i get the clicking noise but no engine ignition. Still throwing P0520 Code.

Am I dealing with Oil Pressure Sensor issues or CAPS issues or both? Or maybe I should just use the original '06 engine harness?

What year ECU are u running the 08' modified harness with?

& like the link above, what color oil pressure switch does it have?

Are you running the new voltage regulator, and Fuel tank/ module?

Not true just change the oil pressure switch to 06+ and your fine.

    Jason & Beerdart (also SkidooChris)...

Thanks for the input. was actually hoping you guys would show up but figured you were on the water for the day. Just to throw some more details out there... (Jason you know this ski very well; Groco got plugged on kissimmee and melted water box; you also reflashed my stock ECU i sold to you)

Anyhow, 08 ECU 8800 with 08 gauge and wiring harness. I also have a 06 Rotax ECU mapped for 8450 but 42lb injectors and right now i'm running 60s. '06 ECU and wiring harness came with the '06 engine i just installed.

So what's happening with the oil switch? the '08 harness isn't registering with the '06 OEM oil switch? i was going to put the '06 harness back on it tomorrow and see what happened. Is this a waste of time? Also, if I buy a new "06+ oil switch, does that mean i should just buy an '08 OEM?

    Regards,

    Paul J. Smith

U need the 08+ oil pressure switch to try first, see if that code goes away. Are u running the 08 style engine harness too?

Yes. Running the 08 harness, but Frank changed the caps connector so that it would plug and play with my old 2004 engine. The 04 connector was a square 2 pin style connector vs the '06 which seems to be rectangular connector with two flat pins inside.

So even though I have the 06 wiring harness that obviously connects to the current 06 OPS it's probably not going to fix my problem because the 06 wiring is not going to "talk" with the 08 ECU?

    regards

04 and 06+ oil pressure switches are different. you must use the correct switch with the correct ecu, maybe harness to?
