Introducing the 2015 Line Up of Yamaha WaveRunners

The big news from Yamaha this year is the introduction of the all new RiDE Dual Throttle Control System

RiDE is an intuitive dual throttle control system which will be available on the 2015 Yamaha FX and VX series WaveRunners. Basically pull the right hand throttle lever to go forward and pull the left hand throttle lever to slow down and go in reverse. Letting go of both levers puts the WaveRunner in neutral. What's cool about the RiDE system is the right and left throttle levers can work together at speed to let the driver dial in maximum control over their ride.

The RiDE equipped skis use a patented bucket design that forces water out the sides of the bucket which causes it to act as a virtual rudder that keeps the ski tracking in the direction the driver intended. Basically, you can steer thru a turn while braking.

The dual throttle system is controlled by a Boat Control Unit "BCU", that is specifically tuned for each model depending on the power and weight of that craft. This ensures a smooth experience whether riding raround a dock or taking a turn at full speed. The BCU is also programmed to understand driver input and intention when both levers are pulled simultaneously, applying the appropriate level of acceleration or deceleration to maximize control.

Yamaha has had the RiDE system in development for many years with main emphasis on maximizing rider fun and giving the rider more control. This system will definitely change the way you ride your watercraft. I had the opportunity to ride the new RiDE equipped models at the beginning of August and was blown away at how natural the system feels. Manuevering around a dock was a breeze. The ski will actually turn on a dime, the whole system is seamless and feels natural. It takes you no time at all to get the hang of it. Best part of the RiDE system is we now get an electronic trim system.
No more clunky reverse lever on the wrong side of the ski... your hands never have to leave the bars.

The next big news from Yamaha for 2015 is the introduction of the NanoXcel 2 hull material for the 2015 FZ and FX SVHO model skis resulting in a weight reduction of 35 pounds on the FZ and 46 pounds on the FX SVHO. There's two ways to increase performance of anyting with a motor...You can increase power output, or reduce the weight of the vehicle. It's all about the power to weight ratio and as we all know, more power and less weight equals more fun.

You can definitely feel the difference on a ski after dropping 40+ pounds. Not only is the acceleration snappier but the handling is improved as well. While this NanoXcel 2 technology is only offered on the 2015 FZ and FX SVHO watercraft you can bet we will see this newer lighter hull material trickle down to the other models over the coming years

For the first time in a decade, the VX Series WaveRunners get a completely new ground up redesign for 2015. New features include the RiDE system with electronic trim and Cruise Assist and No Wake Mode. All it takes is a quick glance to see that the new VX Series takes its styling cues from it's big brother, the FX Series. The striking new deck has masculine hard edged lines which now include integrated mirrors, refinded ergonomics, a two piece seat design along with a bigger rear deck.

The VX Deluxe and VX Cruiser models now include Yamaha's premium Cruise Assist and No Wake features along with the all new RiDE system.

The new hull design features modified hull strakes, softer bow chines, and a new keel shape which all work together to create one of the best handling hulls Yamaha has ever designed.

The new VXR and VXS with their 1.8L powerplant when coupled with this new hull design create one of the most amazing skis I have ever ridden. Most long time members of this forum know what a big fan I was of the VXR. Well, this new hull design blows the previous model away. Night and day difference. You would be amazed at how well this new hull handles. You can bet we will see this new hull design carried over to bigger models in the upcoming years... at least I can only hope
Like the rest of the VX line, the VXR and VXR are equipped with the RiDE system. Unlike the other models, the VXR and VXS does come with the five-position electronic trim.

    2015 Yamaha FZR FZS

    • All-new lighter weight NanoXcel 2 hulls, decks, and liners

    • 2014 National championship winning ski and boat of choice for racing enthusiasts
For 2015, the industry’s best selling high performance model returns more potent than
ever with the introduction of Yamaha’s next generation NanoXcel® material. Lighter and easier to customize to the rider’s liking, the Yamaha FZR and FZS continue their reign as the undisputed king of the closed course and favorite
    waterways around the world.

Next Generation NanoXcel Hulls, Decks, and Liners
New for the FZR and FZS in 2015 is the second generation of Yamaha’s proprietary
lightweight NanoXcel hull, deck, and liner material. NanoXcel 2 reduces the weight of
the FZs by 35-lbs while maintaining the structural integrity of the watercraft.

To create NanoXcel 2, Yamaha engineers innovated at the microscopic level using a
combination of “nano” clay and glass micro-bubbles to develop a new stronger resin
that uses less material. The glass micro-bubbles used in NanoXcel 2 are smaller and
stronger than other filler materials, contributing to the strength, rigidity and lightweight of
    the new hulls and decks.

    2015 Yamaha FX Series
Inclues the Yamaha FX Cruiser SVHO, FX SVHO, FX Cruiser SHO, FX SHO, FX Cruiser HO, FX HO

    • All-new lighter weight NanoXcel® 2 hulls, decks, and liners (SVHO models)
    • Features Yamaha’s all-new RiDE™ dual handlebar throttle controls
    • Equipped now with five position electronic trim control

For 2015, the industry’s best-selling luxury performance series reaches new heights
with the introduction of two industry-first innovations that multiply the fun that Yamaha
FX owners have on the water.

    Advanced Throttle Control Features
On the handlebars, the entire FX line includes RiDE, Yamaha’s all-new dual handlebar
throttle controls that deliver the utmost control moving forward or in reverse.
RiDE could not be more intuitive. The right handlebar lever is forward. The left is reverse.
At speed, the left handlebar lever will also slow you down. Release both right and
left levers and the watercraft is in neutral. No shifting. No gears. The only thing to think
about is how much fun it is to RiDE.

In addition to having the most advanced throttle control system on a personal watercraft,
the FX line also receives five-position electronic trim, which is a first for Yamaha
    WaveRunners.

Electronic trim allows the rider to adjust the handling characteristics of the watercraft on
the fly from a looser, more playful feel to a more planted, high-performance experience.

Next Generation NanoXcel Hulls, Decks, and Liners for SVHO Models
New for the FX Cruiser SVHO and FX SVHO is the second generation of Yamaha’s
proprietary lightweight NanoXcel hull, deck, and liner material. NanoXcel 2 reduces the
weight of FX SVHO models by 46 lbs while maintaining the structural integrity of the watercraft.

To create NanoXcel 2, Yamaha engineers innovated at the microscopic level using a
combination of “nano” clay and glass micro-bubbles to develop a new stronger resin
    that uses less material.

The glass micro-bubbles used in NanoXcel 2 are smaller and stronger than other filler
materials, contributing to the strength, rigidity and light weight of the new hulls and
    decks.

Key Comfort and Convenience Features on Yamaha’s FX Models Include:

    • Yamaha’s exclusive theater seating on all FX Cruiser models
    • Adjustable handlebars that give the driver the feeling of utmost control and comfort
    • RiDE - Yamaha’s all-new dual throttle controls that deliver the utmost control at all
      speeds.
    • Cruise Assist and No Wake Mode that set and hold a consistent speed while cruising
or towing or setting a perfect no wake speed for those long no wake zones
    • Storage under the hood, a watertight storage at the helm, a helm storage box, watertight
storage under the rear seat, and even a convenient stern swim platform storage
      for wet items
    • Yamaha’s exclusive pull-up cleats on Cruiser® models
    • Yamaha’s exclusive remote transmitter security system and Low RPM Mode, which
can reduce fuel consumption by up to 26 percent
    • Yamaha’s Command Link® instrumentation controls that make it easy to control the
      instrumentation functions
    • Multi-function electronic information center that includes speed, RPM, fuel level, low
fuel warning, hour meter, and even water temp

And like all world-class luxury vehicles, the quality, craftsmanship, and overall styling
are nothing less than stunning. The FX design is a combination of symmetry, balance
and sleek flow made possible by Yamaha’s NanoXcel material and closed molded process.

This process creates smooth, exact parts every time. There are no ribs or structural inconsistencies
that show through the finished product. Finally, Yamaha’s industryleading
metallic paint gives the FX line a deep, rich look that no other manufacturer can
    match.
