Yes, you need the press for the Riva kit.

When I had my Riva Thermostat it leaked after the metal snout was pressed on , So I got the Rotax much better

Anybody ever use "water wetter" or similar product? does it work?

I use the water wetter with distilled water. The only problem is you have to drain the system during the winter since you have no anti-frezze.

I used a solder stick (like $20 at home depot). Just use the flat adapter piece and burn the tab off !
Replaced it with a 158 mercury thermostat, epoxy back and walla. $40 thermostat kit.
