    SHO engine rebuild/upgrade

I have decided to rebuild my engine uprading the rods and pistons. I have purchased the K1 rods and CP pistons, is there anything other I need to think about or do while in there? I am trying to only do the bottom end at this time. I am now running the ET 15.5 wheel and was worried about the stock pistons. I am still trying to keep my RPM's around 8700- 8800. How many are using the Riva crank bolts? Also is there any gain in getting the Riva head gasket vs the stock one? I will be running stock compression ratio. I am going to order the Riva head bolts. Also main and rod bearings are there any options or preferences? Any advise is appreciated.

    regards,
    Matt

How can I tell which bearings are in my motor? It appears to be the black ones but I cannot tell exactly. Is there a stamp on the block somewhere? Also per Jim's advice I am going to plasti gauge the stock bearing in the new rod but how do I size the new one per the chart in the Riva parts sheet? It looks like it is the part number 6S5-11656-10-00 is the color in red the size difference in tenths of a mm?

Bearing sizes are marked on the block and crank. The k1 rods should be sized as number 4. There are a few older threads on it, I'll try and find them.

There's a bit of info In there regarding the difference between bearings. Each bearing is very subtly different than the other.
There is a chart in the service manual for finding out which bearings you need.

Thanks a lot Doug. I found the section in the service manual.
