Rxt timing, pic included , please help.

Hi just rebuilding my rxt that dropped two valves, I've lined the crank and balancer shaft up with there arrows then locked the crank, I've locked the cam, fitted the head, chain tensioner and timing wheel and I can't get the 1503 marks totally lined up horizontally with the head, I've included a picture, does this look right? Any opinions appreciated. Steve

They are fine. I run them straight up.

Water4fire so you can't get them any better than that? Just thought they would be spot on horizontal

Yes you can, but is not needed at this point.
You have some movement in the cam gear slots. You can remove alignment tools and adjust it, but it is not needed.
We do this to achieve the best cam timming. I like 135 to 140 lbs of comp. But I have found I like to run the cam straight up.

Mine went together like that and ran perfect

There are many threads on the forum that address this issue. There is a common misconception that the 1503 marks need to be parallel to the top of the head, which is not true. As long as you have the crank pin and can pin in place, your timing is perfect.

also cylinder #3 is TDC with the Crankshaft lock and cam lock in place.

Youre not going to get it any better than the pic. Run it.
