    I have a 95 Polaris slt 750.
What's the best way to clean the stock reeds I ordered a complete set -base,stuffers,reeds all together off ebay and when I opened them they have paper dust all over them and some of them are sealed were they meet the base and some are not.Should the be sealed off if I clean them do I put oil on the part were they meet the base to try and get them to seal or what?

    THANKS

I would just use soap and some mild dishwashing soap on them.

Should the petals seal or just lay up against the base? most of the pedals are sealed and some are not does it matter as long as there up against the base?
Should I put A little 2 cycle oil on the base to see if I can get them to seal after I clean the petals with soap and water?

They should move freely. It sounds like you have a couple that are sticking, you can use your finger and gentley push them open, to free the stuck ones.

They do move freely they seal when they go back down on some and some dont seal off when they go back down. On the ones that seal off good it looks black all the way around the pedal. On the ones that dont seal good you cant see the black around the pedals like there not sealing good.

I think it might be time for some reeds. I would go ahead and replace them.

    I just bought them.
AGAIN are the pedals supost to just sit on the base or have a slight seal to them will they seal better if I put a little oil on the base before re installing the pedals?

Yes, try a little oil. It should help seal the ones you don't see black all the way around on. Did you get performance reeds or stock? New or used? Just curious.

i would have to say no to the oil. it will flow/burn/ come off when the engine starts running, might even foul a plug. i would make sure the cages are all straight, you can wet sand them to get them perfectly smooth, make sure you don't overtighten any screws on the reed petals when you are installing. clearance between the reed block and reed valve is 0.15" (.38mm) max. i think if everything is installed correctly there might be a little bit of light that will get through. you have to let the flow of gases help to seal the reeds. i just put a set of boyesen 2 stage reeds in a motor of mine, and like yours, there was a slight (very slight) gap in some of the petals. i wouldn't worry too much.
