Cannot get jet ski pulled up on bow roller due to hook on winch strap??

Seems the winch strap hook gets hooked on roller when it starts to go under roller. This is for my Shorelander trailer with 2 07 GTX. When we load I have to lift up the jetskis to get them up on the roller..I was thinking with my old ski's and trailer we could drive straight on..I was alway's taught to run the nylon strap thru the loop on the front of th bow, snap it into the hook then connect the steel hook to the bow of the boat and winch it up. If I do this the hook will not clear the roller..any suggestions?

Post some photos of the problem and the current winch and bow roller configuration.

    The pictures help ...

I've seen the short winch assembly (crank to bow roller) a few times and this is definitely one of them.
It make using the bow strap very hard, because the metal hook is *on* the crank.

In your case I would either make the bow strap as short as possible or not use it at all.
You can try to shorten the loop by making an over-hand knot on the metal hook, eye part. This would take up the slack.
My new winch strap had a longer bow loop than my previous one, so I made this mod and its been working great.

    See the pictures for example.

If you have to "lift the ski", maybe the angle of the trailer in the water is too steep or
maybe the bunks can be raised or adjusted. That would be hard to tell from the pictures.

If it was my trailer I would be making some changes.

Your bow roller is aged and cracked and the whole thing is just too close together.

I suggest adding an extension to move the bow roller away from the winch a few inches. This might also give you room to add a strap guide roller between the winch itself and the bow roller. The guide roller is mounted below the bow roller to control the angle the strap towards the bow eye.

Something like this, although maybe not with offset arms.

I like the Stolz bow rollers and end caps.

Replacements for the OEM ShoreLand'r bow roller is also available.

Either raise the now roller somehow or don't use the winch strap loop. Does the hook fit onto the bow-eye or is it to big? If to big, shorten the strap to a large degree.

Well I have already ordered new bow rollers..I will take some more pics of the winch arm etc. I would really like to add the extension if at all possible.

I think you can mount a traditional crank on the front side of that tower.
