    Oil pressure gauge install question

I am installing a mechanical oil pressure gauge on my 05 RXP. I removed the plug on the rear of the head and was threading in the brass fitting, and it started and went in a few threads then slowed down. The threads are very close but do not seem identical, so I stopped.

What thread is that hole in the head? Is it different than the standard brass adapter that comes with the mechanical oil pressure gauges? Any other tips or ideas from people who have installed a mechanical gauge?

Thanks BD. Since the brass fittings in the OP gauge install are 1/8 npt too, they should fit then ... unless the 'thread count' is different. I was hoping they were identical, but do not want to aggressively install the brass fitting and booger up the threads in the head if they are slightly different.

NPT threads are tapered to seal so they should get tighter as it threads in wrap the thread with Teflon tape and sung it up you should be good to go.

1/8 NPT is 1/8 NPT. There isnt a different thread per inch count like standard bolt threads, i.e fine and coarse. You might want to run tap in there but go slow and use grease on the tap, That way any metal shaving will stick to the tap. Go slow and remove and clean the tap frequently.

There is also a bspt thread thats 1/8-28 I think. Kawasaki uses that on their oil pressure switch.
