2011 VXR sucked up eel grass, how to get it out???

Out for a cruise tonight at dusk and while driving into the sun it was hard to see all the eel grass floating on the surface. Needless to say both my skis run fine but neither goes beyond 5 mph now....What's the easiest way to pull this crap out of the grate/pump without taking stuff apart? Somebody must have a trick thats works well!
    Thx guys for your help!!!

We had the same problem with Hydrilla on the TN river. Both skis overheated. We literally had to get in the water and manually pull this junk from the intake grate. Nasty stuff. Nothing like swimming in a salad! yuck! I pasted a pic when we pulled the skis from the river. Even the trailer was covered. Luckily, we didn't have to take the grates off and this stuff is thick! I assume you've already tried pulling the stuff out?

Looks like a Kaw grazing. Lol. Slide off and reach under pull out what you can and get on fire it up blip the throttle to grind up the remainder if any. Ride and watch the pisser. If it's pissing good ride on.

You may need to crawl under the trailer and remove the intake grates to get all the material out of there; sometimes grass and other debris will wrap tightly around the shaft and you may need to get long knife and patiently cut it out. Do NOT continue running your skis until you resolve this problem; they can quickly overheat and damage your engines. It only take a few minutes to remove the intake grates and properly clear the tunnel; we have dealt with this many times here in FL.
