2014 Yamaha FX Rooster Tail Disonnect

Hey guys i'm reading mixed info about the rooster tail disconnect; i got a 2014 yamaha fx svho, I want to disconnect the rooster tail when i'm towing, i hear that you can just put in a valve to stop it if i wanted it disconnected, some people are saying dont do this as the water coming out of the rooster tail is the water used to cool the engine. Does anyone know of a direct answer to as if i can do this or not?

    thanks

Yes you can disconnect. It does nothing with cooling.

How would the water coming out cool the engine, it makes no sense.

I just did this on my Fx svho. The port on pump has a 5/16 hole in it. Tap it with a 3/8-16 tap and install a 3/8x1" stainless bolt. No more stupid rear pisser. This pisser has absolutely nothing to do with cooling...just a visual thing

I cut the pisser line half and installed a valve on my fx ho. 30 hours and no problems. The pisser line has NOTHING to do with engine cooling.

I'm sure the people who are telling him that know it's an open loop system, and the heated water has to come out somewhere. It's does not, however, escape from the visibility spout.

Wrong usage of the term "rooster tail."
