Could you flip the water box upside down and put it on the other side?

Maybe not. Just trying to come up with something different. Might be time to shorten it.

I'm not sure what the results would be but on a 2 stroke engine, the pipe length and volume has a big part on performance.

Correct, all that i can really find is shorter and hotter= more rmp, longer and colder = more down low, but i cant find any figures. I guess i could just try and find out, but 150mm seems quite alot

I think most of the tuning effect would be in the expansion chamber, the cast part. After it goes through the rubber coupling, there's a restriction. I don't think you'd affect it much by making changes there.

Two ways to find out; cut it and try it, or find an engineer that designs multi-cylinder 2-strokes that can do a computer simulation (good luck).

The cast part is just the muffler isnt it? But yeah i quite like the idea of cut and trying it haha, i guess what have i got to loose, just dont want the engine to blow

No, the black plastic part does most of the sound reduction.
