    2009 SHO: prop nose cone neccesary?

    Some say its useless for the most part. Thoughts on re installing it?

    i would keep it as it stops water getting to the shaft threads .if you use it in salt water you will have a hugejob trying to get the prop off

    Hardly anybody uses them, lots of times you cannot get the cone off, or it pushes up and off it self while in use. Not a worry about making a difference in salt water, water is all around the threads from both ends-cone or not. Best to use good anti-seize.

    You would think so, but in practice very few use them. Do a search some of the most experienced, top performers on this site don't use nose cones. If they provide no benefit remove them-it's one more thing to go wrong or get in the way.
